Our #OnePerson for February 2025 is Idris Bilyaminu Ndasadu’Lau, a distinguished Nigerian active citizen, civic leader, young global changer, and community development advocate. With over seven years of experience in the non-profit sector, Idris has honed his skills in project management, research, grassroots mobilization, community engagement, policy-making, advocacy, electoral processes, and good governance. His impactful work has earned him recognition as one of the inspiring leaders featured by the UN Youth Envoy.

Idris is the visionary Founder and Chief Executive of YAPD4Africa, a dynamic social development organisation dedicated to reducing poverty, marginalisation, and inequality across Africa. As a community development expert and Civic Tech Innovator, he leverages digital media to amplify grassroots voices, promote civic participation, and build strategic partnerships.

 

         

He has spoken at the G0v Summit in Taiwan and participated in global platforms such as the YOUNGA Foundation. Idris is also a fellow and member of esteemed organisations, including the American Express Leadership Academy in London, Community Organizing Institute at Yiaga Africa, Comic Relief US, Global Solutions Initiative Foundation Germany, International Democracy Community Germany, Tostan Senegal, KidRights Netherlands, Youth Democracy Cohort, Common Futures Conversations at Chatham House, TransparencIT Nigeria, Solving Public Problems Accelerator at Gov Lab, LEAP Africa, and Kectil Colleagues. These affiliations reflect his commitment to continuous learning and expanding his professional network.

His work has earned him widespread international recognition, including the Noble Citizen Award (India, 2019) and nominations for Young Philanthropist of the Year (Ghana, 2020) and Under25 Social Founder of the Year (Kenya, 2020). He was also honoured as the Male Community Advocate of the Year (Nigeria, 2020) and received the Leadership Award for Girl Child Education and Health (Nigeria, 2021). Additionally, Idris was a Finalist for the Global Youth Awards (London, 2023) and ranked among the Top 15 for the Reimagine Civic Engagement Award (Germany, 2024).
