Doreen Omosele: Pioneer of Rehabilitation

Our #OnePerson for January 2025 is Doreen Omosele

Our #OnePerson for January 2025 is Doreen Omosele, a remarkable advocate for women’s empowerment and the rehabilitation of sex workers in Nigeria. As the Founder and Executive Director of Blossom Girls Outreach Foundation, Doreen has devoted her life to restoring dignity, hope, and purpose to women who have faced exploitation and abuse.

Doreen’s foundation has reached over 500 sex workers across eight states in Nigeria, providing emotional support, rehabilitation, and economic empowerment. In 2017, she established The Blossom Rehab, a centre offering structured programmes that include counselling, skill acquisition, financial literacy, and spiritual mentorship. Her holistic approach equips women to rebuild their lives, overcome trauma, and reintegrate into society with renewed confidence and purpose.

Doreen is the author of notable books, including Warrior Woman, Purple, and Rescued: From Prostitution to Freedom. Her impact goes beyond rehabilitation. Doreen’s book, Purple, written in English and local languages (Pidgin, Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo), symbolises royalty and challenges women in the sex trade to see themselves as destined for more. Copies of the book are distributed freely, inspiring women to embrace new possibilities and explore their potential.

Doreen Omosele is also a seasoned transformational speaker, author, teacher, and vessel of healing, sharing her journey from a life marked by various forms of abuse and addiction to one of purpose-driven transformation. Through her speaking engagements, group coaching, and mentoring programmes, she has empowered hundreds of women to discover their purpose and overcome personal struggles, including sexual addiction.

In addition to her work with Blossom Girls Outreach Foundation, Doreen is the president of When Ladies Gather (WLG), a non-denominational ministry with over 1,000 women. WLG mentors women to build intimacy with God, gain clarity about their purpose, and live with determination. Her leadership and mentorship in WLG have helped many find healing, freedom, and renewed direction.

Her advocacy has earned her recognition, including a nomination for The Future Awards Africa in Community Action. She is also a certified creative designer from Orange Academy and a filmmaker. Her debut movie, February 14th, brings themes of hope and healing to light, touching thousands of lives.

Doreen Omosele’s unwavering commitment to empowering women and addressing systemic societal challenges exemplifies how one person can ignite change.
